Examine the Uses and Specifications in Regards to the Sony MDR-XD200

By Stan Roderbel

The Sony MDR-XD200 has been labelled has a wonderful pair of headphone. This headphone has been known to deliver the highest quality and is also some of the most affordable on the market. Designed with a dome type driver unit, a 40mm diameter, and long stroke diaphragms, this headphone delivers high quality performance when you are listening to your music or watching your movies. The sound produced by the Sony MDR-XD200 is very clear and it comes at a frequency range 8-25,000Hz.

The Sony MDR-XD200 headphones come fully designed with neodymium magnets, which gives off a higher frequency and a greater power handling. If you are hearing the term neodymium magnets for the first time, it means that these headphones are designed to maximize energy, while maintaining the size of regular headphones. The ferrite magnets that are in these headphones are five times clearer than the regular ones that are on the market although they are of the same size.

The bass of the MDR-XD200 goes to roughly 30Hz but will sound much better if it is played at 40Hz. When played below 40Hz, the bass will give off a kind of harmonic distortion. This distortion begins when you play at 35Hz or lower. This problem occurs due to the fact that the bass port that is found inside the ear-cup is not fully covered by the Sound Mode Valve. If you choose to play the bass below 32Hz, you will realize that you will still hear the sounds through the headphones but there will be a great deal of the odd harmonics that was mentioned above and very little fundamental frequency.

When playing your bass, the lowest that you can play it at is 27Hz, any lower than that and you will not be able to hear anything through the MDR-XD200. This problem here is seen as the only bad thing with the bass extension but this only presents a problem to those people who love to listen to really loud music with very deep bass. These headphones are built with a switch that can be found below the ear-cups. This switch is there to uncover and cover the bass port that was mentioned above that can be found inside the ear-cups. There is also a movie and a music mode and what these modes are designed to do is uncover the bass port, which is the function of the movie mode and covering the bass port which gives off less bass boost is what the music mode does.

If you have been searching for the ideal headphones, then you need to look no further than the Sony MDR-XD200. These headphones, when compared to others offer the best sound quality, they are the most comfortable and you can use them for hours forgetting that you are wearing anything on your head. Therefore, if you have been thinking about getting some new headphones, the Sony MDR-XD200 comes highly recommended and they are also very affordable.
