Nintendo And Gaming

By John Collins

Nintendo has always been identified as the leading in video games for a long time. They changed the industry at a time when it was failing and they offered a product that revolutionized the whole gaming world. The company was such a huge success in the 80s and they followed up on the initial success with other game consoles and games that became icons in video gaming. Their leadership was only challenged when Sony released the PlayStation and Microsoft came out with the Xbox. These devices finally posed a serious challenge to the leadership that has been held by Nintendo for so long.

When it comes to changes these other two devices have utilizes compact discs instead of the older format for the game content of the device. Despite the challenge Nintendo still tried to rely on the old systems by using cartridges for its games. The company failed to switch over to the use of CDs which actually provides advantages to the game makers until it was a little late for them which is the reason why they were left behind in that aspect.

When it comes to portable gaming Nintendo is still going strong with the Nintendo DS, although its capabilities were seriously limited not long after it was released. That was resolved with the r4 card which can be very useful to a gamer who wants his console to be upgraded.

The r4 card allows more games to be played on the Nintendo device. It looks like a regular game cartridge that can be inserted into the console and once installed it can increase the performance of the device. What is even more is that it can turn the console into an excellent media player, allowing you to watch movies and play music and other stuff.

Hopefully Nintendo can still come up with excellent devices for gaming in the future by embracing all of the changes that are happening within the industry when it comes to technology and the trend. Hopefully we can see even more iconic Nintendo that will be released in the future and rise up to the challenge that it is now facing.
