iPad Review -A Look at this Popular Device

By Tony Adam

The iPad is turning out to be one of the most popular gadgets of recent years. Some people are still skeptical of them while others were gung ho about purchasing one already.

One of the most impressive features of the iPad is its long battery life. This is a major accomplishment in a world where people are constantly needing to charge some sort of small electronic device. On average, the iPad can last 10 hours without needing to be recharged so you can enjoy the bulk of the day without charging it. Some users have even reported going longer than this. Either way, once you charge your iPad, you don't have to worry about running out of power in a couple of hours, which is very convenient for a portable device. You can also get accessories such as a battery extender to make the battery last even longer. A touch screen is used to operate the iPad as well as the iPhone. There is no keyboard included with the purchase though there is an accessory available to purchase. For keyboards, you have two options - you can buy one that is specially designed by Apple for the iPad or a general full size keyboard. If you need to do a lot of writing or typing this is an investment you might want to consider. For many other tasks, however, like surfing the net, you may find that the touch screen is sufficient, and in some ways more enjoyable than a keyboard. Whether or not you need a keyboard depends on your preference and what your main activities on the iPad will be.

For those who presently use the iPhone, you will appreciate that most of the apps also are the same on the iPad. With an iPad, you can very easily synch all of your apps from your iPod and iPhone. There are well over 100,000 apps for these devices, and the number keeps growing. These great and diverse applications let you use your iPad for all sorts of means, such as reading magazines, playing games, getting information, services and more. Most apps for Apple devices are cheap and a lot are free.

What many people like about the iPad is that it has many of the functions of a laptop computer in a smaller, more portable package. It's true that laptops are portable; they can get a little heavy if you're carrying one around all day. The iPad is much easier to carry around with a 9.5 by 7.5 inch screen and a grand total weight of about 1.5 pounds. You may not be able to wear it on your belt like a phone but it is definitely more convenient than your average laptop bag. You may be able to do things like social networking and browsing the Internet on your mobile phone but it is much easier and more intuitive with the iPad.

As we've seen, the iPad is a versatile gadget that can do many things, but whether you think it's something you can really use depends on your needs. This device can do as much as a laptop computer, without the full expense. Hopefully this article has given you the tools to decide to buy one or not.
