Why People Play Online Games

By Rafel Ternor

Video games have influenced the modern generation a lot. When the earliest 8-bit games came out 4 decades ago, video games merely served the purpose of entertaining people to pass the time. But as the games became more complex and adapted deeper story lines, people started taking video games more seriously.

People play games to feel the adrenaline rush, to get excited, to feel happy, to accept a challenge and to get the satisfaction of beating something or someone. And what better way to feel satisfaction in gaming is to let people know of your triumphs and conquests. Playing video games is a competitive endeavor and usually our goal is not to beat the computer but somebody else - another player. With online games, we can share all of our triumphs, all of our achievements and all of the moments we beat somebody else. What made video games even more addicting is the online factor.

There are many types of online games that cater to different gaming needs. The most popular right now is adventure RPGs. These adventure games are usually played as a third person and the aim is to win quests and missions. Its like being in a real adventure with items to collect, skills and magic to learn and secrets to unlock. The world is continuous, endless and the storyline is very dynamic. The game never ends and when players log off, the game does not end with them. The world exists in a 24/7 mode just like ours.

Another type of popular online games is those of card games. Online poker has become big hit. Party pokes and Zynga have players all over the globe and have been loved by many because they make people feel like they are professional poker players. Other online games are much like online card games, but they are the more serious ones because they can only be played in online casinos.

Other types of games are simple games that are not too graphic heavy like fighting games, car games, and racing games online. And there are yet even simpler games like food games, truck games and parking games.
