Tips For Buying DJ Software For Beginners

By Franklen Latinoa

The digital age has transformed the arena of the DJ; turntables and mixers can now be replaced with kits designed for use on a computer. Mp3 and virtual turntables are now even being used in clubs across the globe. For novices interested in becoming a DJ, there is a variety of programs available. The following are a few things to consider before buying DJ software for beginners.

DJ'ing requires a great deal of practise to perfect, and it can be an expensive pursuit, as well as taking up a lot of space. If money is a concern, or if space is tight, purchasing software can be a way to compensate for such worries.

A quick search online brings up plenty of freeware that can be downloaded by anyone, with the basic functions of the turntables and mixer emulated by an interactive screen. This will give beginners a very basic feel for how 'mixing' some tunes is, and whether they enjoy it. These basic systems, however, do not offer a proper insight into the DJ'ing experience.

Most paid for packages offers a trial period before purchase. This will allow the beginner to get a feel for how the more extensive systems function and whether they enjoy the interface. However, these systems offer only a restricted package as part of the trial, where only the most basic functions are available for use.

If bought, the user can experience the full joy of the software and all the tricks and functions it has to offer. Prices of packages range from around $40/28EURO, to over a few hundred. As such, the beginner can purchase a cheaper program to develop their skills.

With an extensive range of packages available, beginners are recommended to look around the internet, or in magazines, and read reviews of the products. Each kit will offer different interfaces and tools, so it's worth checking out trial packages and freeware before anything is purchased.
