Some Useful Tips about Samsung Galaxy S3

By Morten Hansen

For the past two years we have seen many additions to Samsung's Universe line-up, and this year we'll be treated to the Samsung Galaxy S3. Filling the shoes of the wildly successful Universe S2 is an impressive achievement, but knowing Samsung we will be treated to some next generation smartphone tech.

In this post I'll look at the rumours which are currently circulating about what we can expect from the machine.

Processor

2 years ago, a 1 GHz single-core processor was viewed as the holy grail of processing power thanks to telephones like the HTC Want and original Samsung Galaxy S. A year later on dual-core processors were introduced, as seen in the Galaxy S2 and speedily became the standard in numerous makers ' releases. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is likely to be the first main line smartphone release to pack a quad-core processor. As the processor is important to the performance of many aspects of the phone, expect to see the benefits across the hardware (such as touchscreen responsiveness) and software (loading times of applications and the velocity of the interface). It is expected that each core of the processor will be clocked at 1.2 GHz even though it is entirely possible that upto 1.5GHz may be included.

Screen

Until recently, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S reined ultimate when it came to the resolution of their touchscreen thanks to the retina display. Lately though, several handsets like the Sony Xperia S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Note came with screens which packed a resolution way higher than Apple's offering. Samsung already has the hello res technology so we are certain to see this transferred to the Galaxy S3 along with a possible increase in screen size over its predecessor. It is also widely predicted that the Galaxy S3 will keep the S-AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of both forefathers, which are well-known for their wide view angles, lightness (even when out of doors) and color rendering.

Design

Although we will only speculate on the look of the Samsung Galaxy S3 until it is officially exposed, it is probable that Samsung will carry on with the aesthetics of the Universe S2 but potentially look to make it thinner. Latest releases like the Motorola RAZR have put some pressure onto the competition to match or perhaps beat its 7.1mm thickness. We can expect to see a black version released, with a white version released on or straight after its date of release if past Universe models are anything to go by.

With the features discussed above, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is probably going to have a higher pixel count on its camera, augmented multimedia capabilities and the most recent version of the Android operating system. This is named Ice Cream Sandwich and is demonstrated on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and will likely be rolled out to compatible handsets next month. It sees a huge overhaul to the popular platform meaning the Samsung Galaxy S3 will definitely satisfy re software.

It was recently revealed that Samsung will not be displaying the Universe S3 at the Mobile World Congress show this month, which has been a surprise to many. However this suggests that Samsung will be putting on quite an event to show off their new flagship so we expect something awfully special indeed.
