Things you need to know about registry cleaners

By Barber Paul

If you are observant about your computer's health, then you probably have an entire bunch of PC maintenance programs installed and run them conscientiously. You should have registry tools like a registry cleaner and optimiser on your personal computer along with the protection scanner, anti-malware/adware/spyware programs, and system optimizers you already have. In case you are wondering what a registry cleaner does, here are one or two facts about it.

Not all registry cleaners are trustworthy. Like other programs available online, you need to be wary about choosing a registry cleaner. A few of them are either badly written or contain damaging malicious software. Obviously, an inadequately written registry cleaner may cause more harm than good as it can remove significant registry entries that can lead to rendering your personal computer inoperable. On the other hand, malicious software (Trojans, viruses and key logging applications) can infect your PC and compromise your files and information. At any rate, you must do your analysis to get a trustworthy and trustworthy registry cleaner.

Free isn't always good, but it isn't always bad either. Freeware is how new software corporations promote themselves and their programs. You will find registry cleaners manufactured by these smaller firms and individual programmers. These programs could be bad or good dependent on whom you ask. Some argue that freeware have a larger chance of being shoddily written, though some will tell you that some freeware are worth trying. You would need to do a little analysis to get a good and free registry cleaner.

There are standalone registry cleaners, and there are those that come in application suites. Which is better? Again, it depends on who you ask. If you simply wish to have a registry cleaner, then you can just get a standalone program. On the other hand, if you want to have a complete set of maintenance programs for your P.C, then it is easy to get a standard utility suite.

Back up your registry. Registry cleaners typically include backing up your Windows registry. To be on the safe side though, be absolutely sure to create a back up manually. In case something goes wrong, it'd be easy to get your registry back to a previous state.
