Tablet PCComparison: Samsung Galaxy S II mobilephone or Tablet Personal computer?

By Barber Paul

The Samsung Universe S II smartphone has been characterized as "absurdly forceful" by its early reviewers. It's so forceful in reality that it can stand up just about against most of the mobile devices in the current market. Which brings us to today's subject, how does it stand up against a slate in a tablet P.C comparison ?

Galaxy S II versus. Tablet PC

A lot of the Universe S II's features are pretty equivalent to most tablet PCs on the shelving at the moment so we'll check out those similar specs in this smartphone vs. tablet PC comparison.

Processor, GPU, RAM, and internal storage. Samsung's handset has a good number of permutations, though the original Galaxy S II includes a strong 1.2 GHz twin core ARM Cortex-A9 processor. It utilises a Exynos 4210 System on a chip with ARM's Mali-400 MP GPU. It also has a 1 GB dedicated RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. More recent tablet PCs come with quad-core processors, though most of them still run on Nvidia's dual core processor, the Tegra 2. RAM, GPU, and memory are also similar to the specs you'd see on some tablet PCs.

OS. The Samsung Galaxy S II at first rolled out with Google's Gingerbread (Android 2.3.6) and TouchWiz UI 4.0. A couple of weeks back, Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) was released to the aforementioned smartphone too. Tablet PCs come in a variety of operating systems, though the ones that come with Android have the Honeycomb variety (3.x). When ICS was released, it was also rolled out to some slates.

The Difference

Whether you'd enjoy the ICS user experience better on a Universe S II or a tablet Computer depends generally on your needs and preferences. The Galaxy S II is a dynamic, light, and little mobile gadget that will do most things that a tablet P.C can. Nonetheless if display size matters to you (and if you already have a mobile you're more than OK with) though, you might want to go for a tablet Personal computer to be different. You can check out Samsung's Universe Tab variants as well if you're in the market for a slate.

Al things taken with all in this tablet P.C comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S II has enough power to outgun some tablet Computers. Smartphones and tablets may be cousins in the family of mobile connectivity devices, though they're made with explicit uses in mind so the decision between the two is dependent on your requirements.
