iPad 3 Updates: New Features to Expect and Possible Release Date

By Daniel Biezarced

Apple is really an incredible company. Who would have thought that a company established in a garage would grow to be largest publicly traded company in the world in terms of market capitalization, and the largest tech company in the world based on revenue and profit. Originally named Apple computer, the company have removed the word "computer" in 2007 to mirror its expanded focus which now includes consumer electronics aside from their traditional personal computer offerings.

As of July last year, the said company has about 360 retail stores in ten countries, and an online store. Its emphasis on design aesthetics, great customer service and retail experience also add to its widespread popularity.

Fortune magazine named Apple as the most admired company in the US in 2008, and the world from 2008 to 2011. The company has repeatedly captured the world's attention thanks in part to its knack for pushing the envelope when it comes to computers and other consumer electronics. Apple made it possible for us to carry and listen to thousands of songs from a device that can fit easily in our pockets and it taught us that there are other ways of interacting with technology with the introduction of gadgets with touch-friendly UI like the iPhone, iPod touch, and most recently the iPad. Apple's impressive lineup of portable devices allows users to access the World Wide Web, whenever and wherever they want.

The iPad was selected by Time Magazine as one of the best 50 inventions for the year 2010. When it was first released, it was marketed as the laptop killer and for good reason, as a lot of consumers find it more intuitive and convenient to bring along. The iPad made stand-alone e-book readers boring, and provided another means of enjoying films and television programs. The fact that the existing versions of the iPad are already feature-rich makes news of an upcoming iPad 3 release particularly exciting.

People are already speculating that the iPad 3 will now finally feature the retina display available in other Mac products. Before 2011 ended, some anonymous industry insiders stated that the iPad 3 release date will be on Feb 24, the same day as the birthday of co-founder and former Apple CEO, Steve Jobs. While likely, that is only a rumor, but from the looks of things an iPad 3 release date within the first quarter of 2012 is also not entirely remote.
