Hiring A Web Development Company

By Mark Winner

When it comes to choosing a good web agency, there are many misconceptions that I often see people making. I will mostly focus on the one mistake that I have found to be the most common and have found to lead to less than optimal choices in a web-development-company.

The number one error I see people engage in - is insissting that the WDC has to be in their own city or county. But this makes absolutely no sense when it comes to web development. While a lot of people think they're being smart by using this as their criteria, they most often end up just paying more to get less. The advantage is just not there!

I mean, I don't want to misunderstand me. I'm not saying there are no benefits to working with a local agency. If you are looking at 10 different agencies which are all equally good, and 1 of them happens to be close to you in the physical sense, then pick them! It's a nice little bonus. But it should never be your primary criteria to where you pay more just to get someone that's in your own city.

When it comes to web development, you do not even need to make many phone calls, let alone have much of a need to meet these people in real life. This is an internet based venture, and hence, your only interest is their internet presence, their internet work and their quality and pricing.

And this is especially true with international outsourcing. You think big corporations outsource to East Asia for nothing? And it's not like they always open branches in those countries. Sometimes even big corporations just hire people over the internet to do things task by task, or project by project.
