Content On The Go

By Stacy Wallace

People enjoy different pastimes, and the most common ones are listening to music, watching TV or films, reading books, and playing games. Now that we are living on a digital world, many electronic gizmos that allow folks to do these activities through a wifi connection are now available in the market.

These gadgets perform many functions but no device is capable of doing everything yet like streaming films, recording television shows, playing video and sound files, transferring documents, and storing digital content. As a result, these electronic gizmos have different categorizes : PMP (portable media player), DAP (digital audio player) and DMR (digital media receiver), also known as digital media streamers.

Digital audio players or portable media players are gizmos that are able to hold and play digital content such as photos, mp3s, videos, PDFs, and video games that are either streamed over a WiFi connection or uploaded from other devices throughBluetooth or through a USB connection. These products are capable of holding hundreds of digital media. Some models have expandable memory cards, a few have set memory space, and a few models offer both options.

Digital media players are entertainment hardware devices that add more features or capabilities to your television. These devices stream entertainment from the cloud to your home television. With a digital media receiver, you can access online content such as new release movies, songs, and photos immediately on your TV without the need for a computer. Nevertheless many of the service providers that offer certain services need a subscription fee (such as Hulu Plus and Netflix).

Since there are so many entertainment electronic devices, if you are looking to buy one it is important to carefully consider which device you would like to purchase so you can make sure that the player you buy has compatibility with your personal computer, television, Internet connection and the services you want to stream.
