A Brief Overview Of Online Games

By Ronald Lozinskerr

Online games can be entertaining and oftentimes addicting, which makes it look bad to most parents. However, there are also quite a number of positive effects that video games can have on players.

The Positive Effects of Online Games

From dress up games to action games, these can help give the player's mind a puzzle to solve. A typical online game requires abstract and high level thought processing which are often untaught in a school.

One's spatial proficiency, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills as well as logical thinking are more developed by certain video games. Studies have proven that online gamers develop great iconic, spatial and visual attention skills.

The memory skill is also enhanced, since most games need the player to memorize and apply information related to the game. Young ones, especially little girls, can enjoy fun and wholesome dressup games to develop these skills. That's because dressup games help girls to be able to feel more accustomed to computer technology as boys are more likely to be effortlessly familiar with it.

Online games provide a great venue for social interaction, especially to introverted children. There are video games that can also teach many lessons that apply to school, the difference is that games are much more fun, which makes practicing so much more engaging for them.

One of the things to be more thankful about the existence of video games is that they often keep teenagers from doing drugs or alcohol.

The Bad Side of Online Games

The first thing that's always stressed about most video games is their violence. Oftentimes, those who are fond of violent videogames are more likely to be aggressive. Addiction to video games often leads to a child becoming socially isolated and disinterested in healthy activities such as playing sports and reading books. These can further lead to overeating, bad physical structural development, and many other negative health concerns.

Children who play Online Games: Proper Parenthood

Dysfunctional parenting plays a more important part in violent children than any type of video game, though. Carefully monitoring the length of time that a child plays as well as the type of television and other factors can help increase the positive effects of video games on them. Try to understand and appreciate the type of game instead of scolding them is another proper way of managing.

Online games are an unavoidable in a fast paced, technological world. While you cannot avoid having your child play them, you can help manage and monitor their activity to keep it healthy and safe for them.
