Working in IT has some hidden benefits and quirks; this article explores some of the less well known secrets of IT workers.

Often working in IT means that consultants and users will try to take the credit for your work or blame you If things go wrong. Working alongside IT consultants can be quite challenging at times. Often consultants will insist that their solutions will work everywhere else suggesting there must be a problem on your part. However when a project is successful some consultants will try to take the credit.

Often as a professional you will spend the majority of your time looking after older programmes rather than implementing new ones. Although one of the supposedly biggest benefits of working in IT is that you do get to try out all of the latest software. In reality this isn't always the case and often IT workers need to work with existing technology 90% of the time.

Some IT workers decide to use technology that is based on their own comfort zone rather than being more suited towards the business they are in. This can make life a lot easier.

With more criminal activity occurring online, workers are becoming much more indispensable within businesses. Protecting the data and networks of the business you work for is a huge responsibility.

Often workers will use industry specific jargon, this can be quite comical and around 50% of people questioned admitted that they did just that in order to cover up their own mistakes!

The above secrets are just a short selection from a very long list of amusing and sometimes shocking disclosures provided by IT professionals. The ins and outs of a typical day in an IT workers life do not of course always included any of the above instances.
