Microsoft Is Looking For New Room For Growth

By Anne Lee

In the third quarter, the global PC shipments grew 3.6%, lower than the prior expectation of 4.5%. The analyst said that now the number of consumers and businesses expenses is reducing. The PC is not the first choice of the electronic products that people want to buy. The global economic downturn, as well as the common shocks of smart phones and tablet PCs has affected the shipments of PC.

While watching from the enterprise market, the PC industry will remain viable in a certain period of time, but losing ground in the consumer market and long-term trend of decline made the traditional giants of the PC industry chain worried a lot. Hewlett-Packard'sin recently repeated attitudes on the spin-off of the PC business reflected the giant's helplessness and loss.

Today, Dell and HP followed IBM to transit to IT service providers. Lenovo and Acer follow Apple to rich product line to get into the field of mobile terminals, reducing costs by expanding the scale. As a software vendor attached to the PC industry, Microsoft, in the face of the decreasing profit of PC and the new trend of the mobile Internet, began to transform itself and open up the new space for growth (http://www.sinewave-ups.com/).

Microsoft is making efforts in the smart phones and tablet PC market through a series of initiatives. In the field of smart phones, Microsoft released Windows Phone mobile phone operating system. It formed business alliance with terminal makers of the industry chain such as Nokia and the mobile chip maker ARM. At present, the system has attracted HTC, Samsung and other mainstream devices business. To increase their market share, Microsoft's director said the company will reduce the cost of mobile phone parts to below $ 200. As a result, the three mobile hegemonies are quietly opening the curtain.

Meanwhile, Microsoft's Windows 8 is given high hopes. Windows 8 not only supports Intel chip, but also support for ARM chips. As a giant ruling 90% market share of the PC market, Microsoft determined to put Windows into tablet PCs. It is expected that Microsoft will work with Apple and Google to form three major mobile eco-systems.
