What Application Lifecycle Management Incorporates

By Marlene Bass

A computer is just an electronic box without applications. Applications allow the user to dictate how this computer is used. A user will select from the diverse types of applications being offered on the market. Obviously one will choose those which he considers relevant for his purposes. The makers of each application will have to implement a process of continual development and maintenance so that they remain relevant with the ever changing applications world. This is known as application lifecycle Management.

This management process improves the applications regularly, with the aid of some specific development tools. The key though is to be alert so that they are applied at the right time and enhance the particular business process.

There are several companies who are wholly devoted to developing tools for these maintenance and updating procedures. These tools are mainly used by software/applications developers and help them to remain focused on the ever changing demands of businesses.

If specialized service companies are used, there needs to be constant communication between them and the software developer. Due to the constantly changing market, such companies are forced to constantly update their tools and methods.

The companies that are engaged in creating tools for application lifecycle management use the Unified Modeling Languatew (UML). This provides a standard way to study the system's blueprints at a universal level.

Each company devotes itself to develop tools in specific fields. Each tool is designed with a common platform from design to delivery. These companies need to be responsive as the ever changing world of software expects them to be alert and jump in to make the necessary changes to ensure top-notch application lifecycle management tools.

Most end users are rarely aware of the kind of effort that goes into ensuring the smooth functioning of their applications. These techniques guarantee that they experience predictable operation over their lifetime. Application Lifecycle Management
