I Have A Question... Do You Prefer Using A Mac Or A Windows OS

By Georgina Quiones

While there are many brands of computers, there are only two major operating systems for average users -Windows and Mac OS. Linux is also out there, but that is usually only chosen by people with advanced computer skills or businesses. When it is time to pick your next computer, you'll want to be able to look closely at both Mac and Windows systems and we'll share some of the advantages of each of them in the following paragraphs.

The biggest and most important advantage offered by Windows based computers is the price. You can certainly get a computer with a Windows OS quite a bit cheaper than a Mac. Whether you are buying a laptop or a desktop, you should be able to save hundreds of dollars by selecting a PC instead of a Mac. This means that when all you want from your computer are the basics: web surfing, emailing and video watching, you will probably be better served by choosing Windows OS based PCs. You might still like Mac better for any number of reasons (like interface design, ease of use, etc), but in terms of cost they are absolutely more expensive. When your goal is to get the lowest priced PC, though, Windows has a clear advantage.

If you follow tech news, you might be hearing quite a lot about Windows 8, which is the next important upgrade to the Windows OS. For some users, this will be the clincher in the Windows Vs. Mac debate because Windows is promising that the new release is going to be packed with some radical new features. The biggest advantage that Windows 8 is going to offer is the option of turning your computer into a tablet thanks to a highly operational touchscreen. You'll also have the option to use a traditional mouse or keyboard. Obviously, however, as of this article's writing date, Windows 8 is still just something that we can only look forward to. It's release date is still slated for 2012 at the earliest. And by then Mac will probably have something in the works to rival it.

You shouldn't buy your computer totally because of the way it looks, but it is important to most people. When it comes to the design, many people like the Mac. Having high functioning products, that are attractive and ergonomic, has always been important to the designers at Apple. If you were wondering why most other brands were less expensive than Apple products, this could be the reason.

Once you decide upon your budget, you can decide whether to go with the lower price and versatility of Windows or the Mac, and its convenient interface and high-end look. The right computer should be a simple choice, once you know all of the advantages and disadvantages of both operating systems.
