Getting Training In SharePoint

By Benjamin Rutherford

If your company is interested in implementing SharePoint there are quite a few options and choices for you. It is generally a good idea that you go ahead and talk to your entire IT team. It is possible someone inside of your company already has SP skills from a previous workplace.

Should you have the fortune of tracking down an employee with previous SP experience, you should find implementing SP a lot easier and simpler. Just ask this person if they can go and get up to date on what's changed since they last dealt with SP. Then get this person to then train and teach everyone else in the company on how to use and implement SP.

If this quick tip didn't work for you because nobody on your team has sufficient previous SP knowledge, you have two other options. You can hire some SharePoint consultants to come in and implement SP for you, and then train employees as it comes along. Or you can go ahead and just purchase SharePoint training and have your folks train themselves in it.

When you're choosing SharePoint training I have a very simple tip for you. I would tell you to purchase it from consulting companies. There are many reasons to do so. The main reason is that these people implement it every day in real life situations with real life companies. Their knowledge is based on experience in the real world. It is not theoretical or based on guesswork.

There is another reason to purchase training from a consulting company. And this specific reason is very practical and useful. Sometimes you will run into bumps in the read. No matter how good the training is, it can't teach you to solve every SharePoint problem that can theoretically come up. It is always useful to have someone to call up for help if things get tough. So if you're getting your training from a consulting company, you can always ask them for help or advice. You can even upgrade to their full consulting service.
