The Ups And Downs Of Having Videos On Your Website

By Vennie Afflick

Videos online are fun to watch. They keep your entertained for short span of time but when videos begin to drag on, you also begin to feel less attentive and would rather opt to cancel the video instead. People tend to dislike videos that go way beyond the ten minute mark.

All of us are different. We are individuals who learn differently. Some go for manuals and books, while others go for experience. But, most of the time, people tend to watch videos to help them learn something.

Short videos are great for people who want to learn. They are short and you can play them back easily. But, for those longer videos you will never know if it is worth watching or you will learn something from it.

Most of the time, long videos have text version so that people who are not fond of watching videos to learn can still learn through reading the text version. You can scan and highlight those points you want to remember and go back to watching your video.

Downloading videos are easy but certain people might come across problems regarding the technical aspect of their computer. These people are easily frustrated with their lack of technical support. This will ultimately come back to the marketer and haunt him.

This is where text versions of the videos would come in handy. All the information they need from the video is transcribed in a text version enabling them to continue their study. This is a win-win situation for the marketer promoting the video.

SEOs are still better with text. Some websites and applications are still preferring texts over videos when it comes to contents and relevance. This ultimately means that people are more interested in reading rather than watching.

But, if you still prefer videos as means to promoting your website you can still do so as long as your incorporate texts into it. It is still a good idea to have videos as a way of increasing traffic to your website.
