By Sammy Stapp

Personalizing the Firefox Browser

While many modern internet browsers offer some measure of customization, Firefox is still one of the easiest to design exactly to your personal tastes. Firefox strikes many internet users as bland when they first install it and it is true that the browser doesn't have many bells and whistles initially. However, there are a variety of simple changes that can make Firefox look precisely how you want it to.

Theme Options

There are innumerable themes from which Firefox users can choose. Some of the themes are fairly generic and only change your browser window to another color. If you are looking for a clean, minimal theme these might be great for you. There are also, though, many more ornate options. Sometimes, themes transform the pattern or color of the browser and also the icons and scroll bar.

Using these themes, you can change your Firefox browser until it completely appeals to your sense of style. Themes are extremely easy to install and uninstall. You simply need to go to the Firefox website and browse the themes gallery. You can download several themes at once if you choose. Then, simply go to the Add-Ons folder to see all of your new themes.

To view a theme, select it from your theme gallery and restart your browser. If you don't like the look of the theme, go back to your Add-Ons folder and delete it. It is important to keep in mind that if you are using a version of Firefox that isn't compatible with your theme, it won't work correctly.

Add-Ons and Extras

Firefox is popular because it offers a variety of add-on options to suit every user's needs. There are a vast array of tools that Firefox users can download, from organizational features that will organize all of the blogs you read to applications that automatically display your city's weather on the side of your browser. There are also some features that are merely for enjoyment.

Personalizing the Toolbar

There are tools and applications that one person may use daily, but another has never utilized. For this reason, Firefox allows its users to customize their tool bars easily. By simply dragging and dropping their most frequently used features, Firefox users can completely rearrange their toolbar icons.

Firefox offers a variety of other advantages alongside its customization choices, but they are a significant benefit for many users. If you have never tried Firefox, download it today. It is not unlikely that you will choose to switch to Firefox as your primary browser.
