The Best New Game Out: Arkham City

By David Parker

A year where gamers rejoice, 2011, the most anticipated year of the decade, with the plenty of releases. The trailer which left many gamers awestruck a few months back, the trailer which proved once again, that this year would be spectacular for gamers, the trailer for the game Batman: Arkham City, the successor for the previous batman game, Arkham Asylum.

The story is based on what happens one year after Joker's attempt to corrupt Arkham Asylum. Claiming that he himself stopped joker, the warden of Arkham Asylum, Quincy Sharp was nominated as the Mayor of Gotham. After Sharp started feeling the prison going out of control, he had to shut down the facility and proceeded to convert a large area of slums in Gotham into a large prison to transfer the criminals into. Sharp put Hugo Strange, a villain in charge of the prison, who starts taking advantage of Sharp. As always, Joker returns with his evil jokes, still wounded from the battle in Arkham Asylum with Batman, and trying to find an antidote to cure himself.

You all may have heard of the developers talking about the new playable character, catwoman, the little thief in the batman series, whom you may have observed made captive by Two-Face in the trailer. The developers have mentioned that we will certainly enjoy playing as catwoman, with her new, high speed combat animations. But, some people still live in the fear that other characters will soon steal away batman's part in BATMAN itself. Already having thought about this, Rocksteady have made it a point, to have an option whether or not to play as catwoman. But I'd just say that there is no harm in trying her out.

The villains in the game have also been well made and seem perfectly rendered. The script and voices alike, both match perfectly with the batman series we used to watch on TV before. The fights are filled with great combat mini games and take downs alike. Some battles may require using some logical thinking like blowing up walls, turning off electricity generators and all that, but the pleasure you get after finishing a huge villain or boss is unbeatable. The game has never been so interactive during fights ever before. You can pick up anything or use anything against anyone, literally. You can use explosive gel to blow up things with your enemy; you can glide from a building, break glasses and kick the hell out of them.

Whatever the outcome, you can be sure to expect a great story line, a great game, and a great day for you to enjoy it. This game is highly recommended for the people who love action and the game that dwells with mystery, which our famous detective Batman, will help you solve.
