Online Gaming: Why I Gave It Up

By Cindy Hannah

I am finished playing online games. I have decided that from now on, I am not switching on my computer anymore because I want to get a life. It just occurred to me today that I spend far too much of my time sitting playing online games. I could be doing so much more than just sitting around looking blankly at my computer screen all day long.

The following are some examples of why online gaming is not for me anymore.

Most of these games are similar so playing a few means that you could have easily played them all. I started playing computer games at a very young age; I was only around four years old. So I have been playing these games for eighteen years now and I don't think there is much that could surprise me anymore.

The truth is that these stories are all just the same kind of thing but sold in a different way. There are only so many elements you can add to a game and I have seen them all many times it is now boring and I have had enough.

The fact that I play computer games all the time means that I am a bit of human slug. I am overweight because I never get any exercise. The Wii craze did not last very long and it does not look like physical computer games are going to revolutionise the gaming world too much. I need to start moving or I will start to suffer with a lot of health problems. And the truth is that I would love to get to the age of thirty.

It is sad to say that all of my friends are people that I have met online; I have actually never even met these people in person. I do not have any real friends, and this is not something that I am not proud about. It is time that I got out there and met some real people.
