Left-Handed Gamers, Gaming, Mice And Reality

By Jamie Briggs

Getting comfortable with a left handed mouse is only one of the many skills you need to participate in online gaming. An ever growing number of people participate in EverQuest, WOW (World of Warcraft) and other MMORPGs (Massive MultiPlayer Online Role Playing Games), so they must have some appeal. Quite a few people are very passionate about gaming. Others only play once in a while. What kind of gamer do you want to be? Sure, you want to have fun gaming, but where do you start? We will now discuss some ways you can get better at gaming and have more fun with it.

Anyone interested in a MMORPG (Massive MultiPlayer Online Role Playing Game) community, and desires to be a part of one, just must devote some time to reading about what's going on with the game. You got to have the hardware: keyboard shortcuts and left-handed mouse for maximum capability; but that pales in comparison to staying on top of what's important in your game community.

One thing you surely need if you're left-handed is a left-handed mouse, which isn't too hard to find. To make your life even easier, get yourself an ambidextrous keyboard. This is a keyboard that comes in two parts so that you can shift it around to suit your needs. If you want a really specialized keyboard, find one that's made for gaming, and if you're left-handed you may even find one designed for lefties. They cost a little bit more money but if it makes the physical part of playing the game easier, then isn't it worth the money? It's important to practice alot. If you want to become an asset to your gaming team it is important to take time to master the necessary skills. Your first day will not result in instant success so don't expect to be an expert the first day. Figuring out how best to use your left handed mouses, for example, might take a little bit. Gaming is like anything else: you need to work at it if you want to get good at it. Becoming a better gamer comes with practice, so practice often. Gaming becomes more fun as you get better at it.

Do embrace the team spirit ethic. Many concepts (with MMORPG's) are the same as traditional team sports. It's not unusual for players with more time in the game to tell you what to do, and that cannot be a problem with you.

If you think someone isn't playing well try to deal with it in a polite way, and privately. Calling attention to it in a public space will make others feel uncomfortable.

The whole point to online gaming is to have fun. That's how they are engineered to offer to people. No question, if you really get into it heavily, then there are couple points to think about. For our lefty brothers and sisters - do be sure to do the shortcut thing, and please get a left-handed mouse. Have the willingness to accept advice and criticism - be humble and lose the attitude. Everybody will have a lot more fun when everyone gets along.
