How Creating a Like Page on Facebook can Help Your Churches

By John Miranda

The following are five reasons why Facebook should be the tool for your church when it comes to looking for methods to build online relationships with the folks of your church and your community as well.

1. Facebook is Totally free. Yes, your church won't be asked to pay a single penny to start your church fan page. Try comparing that to creating a church website! Custom sites begin at $1200 if you're lucky!

2. Facebook is the WORLD'S #1 at COMMUNICATION. One of the most hard things is capturing the attention of our members. As a pastor or minister of the church, you just do not have the luxury of time to grab the telephone and get in touch with each member of the church one by one personally. Having a Facebook fan page makes it possible for you to discover the needs of church members, answer some questions, and of course have a group discussion. These are things that you most likely can't carry out face-to-face on a frequent manner.

3. Create a like page on facebook and start encouraging better social CONNECTION between the people and the church. In every ministry, there are members that only attend church once a week or less. Posting on a regular basis on your church Facebook page assists them stay connected and have ideas about what's developing on a daily basis.

4. Facebook makes it possible for your church to SHARE photos, articles, videos and the gospel with everyone. There is no denying the fact that folks appreciate to see pictures of themselves. Altough they may complain and whine about it when they discover them, they still appreciate it! Uploading videos to Facebook is quite simple and easy. If you have a smart phone with a 3g internet connection, it's as simple as point, click and send. The families at my church love seeing updates from the Children's Minister as he posts pics of the kids from camp to his Facebook page.

5. A custom facebook page helps develop RELATIONSHIPS among the men and women of the church. Members of your church can meet and get acquainted via your church Facebook fan page. For pastors and ministers of the church, Facebook can be used to get to know more people as individuals by browsing through posts. Having knowledge about what is going on in the lives of their members can be extremely handy. At church you can caringly mention, "So how's your mother doing after her surgical procedure last week?
