While the price was good, I must say, and it was too good to be true. Performance sucks, picture was terrible, camera was so blurry no one could see properly. The netbooks in particular are WELL designed.
I cannot understand why this decision was made. Overall, if you want a computer that's completely portable and functional for everything other than maybe video editing, this is the computer for you.
The system is fast (with the exception of suspend and hibernate) and stable. Since my particular color was deeply discounted, I consider it money well spent. Battery life is also great. Great job Toshiba, I am very happy. It does everything I could want in a netbook and it looks pretty cool too. I am in Iraq (deployed) and this is the one thing that connects me to my family back home and it has not failed me once. It made a great Mother's Day gift and priced right. I like the size because I travel with a full size laptop for business and take my netbook along for personal use. I did upgrade it to 2 GB and I think it runs a bit faster.
The only game I have loaded is Torchlight - it's a bit painful on the built-in display, but it works. Running Torchlight on an external display is excellent.
What is there not to like about it? The battery life is outstanding, seems to me near 8 hours at this time.
I have now downloaded IE 9 beta and it runs fine as well (IE 9 loads up as quickly as chrome does). I have 3 small gadgets running on the desktop and that does not seem to slow it down despite the low 2.4 windows experience rating. I love this little computer. I would like to update the ram because it can tend to run slow at times, but for this price, the performance is great.
I like it a lot. I've only had my netbook a week, but I like it very much for what I use it for: I am a journalist and often cover conferences. Once again, the best thing about this netbook is the keyboard. I'm the mom of a college student, and ordered this for him as an early Xmas gift. Inserting the new memory module was a breeze (directions in user guide online at Toshiba) and download of Windows anytime upgrade from Amazon was a snap. Just go to programs and look for Windows Anytime Upgrade - follow directions and its done!
