What Spyware Is Meant To Do

By Edward French

Spyware has become a byword in the internet. It is a conversation topic in social networks and is a regular news item in the print media and e-zines. The reason for this is the constant bombardment of spyware related material, which infiltrates computer systems. Spyware has its own reason for being.

The Internet is loaded with information on every conceivable subject. The internet is like a vast marketplace where e-books, software, pictures and images, and other free or dirt-cheap items abound and everybody is invited to have a piece of it. It would take a very disciplined man to resist the urge to download files of interest for free, and this explains the increasing incidents of downloads by internet users. Advertisers and marketing specialists are aware of this trend and they focus their attention on providing online surfers with software, ebooks and other giveaways that cater to individual interests. These giveaways actually are not what they appear to be on the surface, but are instruments of subterfuge to gain entry into a computer.

The user is unaware that the spyware piggybacks on the file download all the time. The user is therefore duped into unloading the giveaway file not knowing that with his own hands he had voluntarily placed the very instrument that will cause him innumerable problems on his computer.

A spyware let inside a computer is like a predator allowed into a hunting ground. It has gained entrance into the system and feeds on the information the system contains. It will look around, hear what is said, read what is written, witness what is happening, learn what is planned, and feed all the information to its controller. So who are the controllers? You guessed right, it is the promotional companies. With a spy in place, these promotional firms are in position to know what product and services the person will need. With the knowledge thus gained, they are able to offer the commodity that fits exactly the need of the spyware victims.

People treasure privacy, be it at home or on the internet. While people can have privacy in their abode, computer privacy is always at risk. A Loss of privacy on the internet can bring about numerous hardships, financial losses and of course can lead to identity theft.

If you have a computer with internet connection, you need protection against spyware. The spyware software is tasked to search for and cleanse your files of the unwanted spyware to preserve the integrity of your computer.
