Guide On How To Unzip A File

If you have ever bought software, graphics, or any download-able sorts of materials online, odds are you were sent a zip file containing your products. Often times these files will contain .exe files, or could be too large for your e-mail client to accept them. There are numerous utilities which will both allow you to unzip a file or zip a file. The most common compression resources are WinZip, WinRar and UltimateZip. Each one of these software applications offer a free to use license. You can download winzip freely.

This short article will give you instructions on the way to unzip a file using WinZip.

- Once you have downloaded your zip filed, find it by browsing to the file location.
- Right mouse click the zip folder icon and go to extract. You may also double click the file to open the programme.
- Highlight the name of the file and click extract option.
- You will choose a destination folder to extract to.
- Done, just browse your newly created folder and programme files.

There are many reasons you may wish to compress and/or archive information like you want to be able to create backups that take up less space for storage, or perhaps you need to backup your PC files online, or on a USB key drive to use at a different place. You can also would like to just backup and password protect files, send to somebody or simply to keep the files fresh and clean on your P. C, therefore you'll need to stack away it.

If you are using Winzip please follow this process to zip a file.

1. Open the Winzip program.
2. Click Winzip Magician if available, if not click to the interface.
3. Select the option to create a new zip file.
4. It'll now ask you to name the compressed file, be totally sure to add.zip at the end. An example would be 'thisismyzipfile.zip'.
5. You may then wish to select the destination folder and files you would like to add to the zip file.
6. Click maximum compression.
7. Then click OK.
8. Done.

Other repository utilities might have subtley different processes to zip or unzip your compressed files. They're really straightforward to use, and all function in the same way. If you want to a different application, be sure that quick zip, archiving, file decompression and even encryption of passwords is included. It should also offer extracting of files as well.
