For instance, if you submit a request through the mail, you will be charged $17 per name provided. But if you decide to go with the state's public access website, known as WATCH (Washington Access to Criminal History), there is only a $10 fee for every name you requested. Then again, with fingerprint-based searches, you will need $26 in addition to the $13 fingerprinting fee, which you will be paying in person.
As far as government policies and procedures go, you do not have to go through hoops to get the information you need. Sometimes, an easier method in accessing free criminal records is more efficient. And on that note, commercial record providers are much more effective in providing public records as there are no stressful procedures to follow.
