Tablet computer Comparison: Nook vs. Fire

By Barber Paul

I guess you've probably seen all different sorts of articles about tablet PC comparison, many rumors and forecasts, and you are most probably waiting to see which comes up as the winner in the subsequent generation's tablet Personal computer wars. Among this gen's much awaited contenders are the main two reader personal tablets from Barnes and Noble and Amazon. These are loads better value than an iPad; feature heaps of downloadable content; and will likely be hitting the stores in the States in the following couple of days. Also, both are expected to be robust challengers against the tablet wars ' current perceived champion the Apple iPad 2. Let's do quick appraisal tablet PC comparison to discover how they measure up against the competition.

Specs: Coloured Screens, Improved Computing

Barnes and Noble's Nook Tablet is equipped with 1 GHz twin core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage. It also has a 7 inch capacitive multi-touch screen, and a microSDHC slot to increase the memory to up to 32 GB. The Amazon Kindle Fire, on the other hand, features a corresponding twin core processor, but with only 512 MB RAM. The Fire sports the same display specs, though it's important to note that it does not have memory slots to expand your storage. The Nook Tablet is stated for release on November 17 and will retail at $ 249, while the Kindle Fire is lined up for a November 15 release and will retail at $ 199.

The Base Line

Both the Nook Tablet and the Kindle Fire have millions of downloadable content backing them up, though Amazon appears stronger vis on-demand media since they've an MP3 store and a place that you can rent or purchase videos. The Nook does not have that feature now, so you'll need to purchase music and video from somewhere else. Specs-wise, the Nook is stronger with a larger RAM, extendable storage, and better battery life while the Fire wins in the apps dep. as they just have more available.
