Increase Your Rank On Google With These Easy Tips

By Roger Gray

For most website owners, few things are more important than getting a good rank on Google. Why? It's simply the best way to get new visitors-and customers-to your site. If you are listed on page 40, your chances of being seen are minimal.

One of the first requirements for the site to have a good rank on Google is to be set up correctly. This involves setting up your pages with the correct meta tag and such so that the web crawlers and spiders can find you!

Linking up with other popular sites is also a method that often works. The spiders like sites that are well connected, but you don't want to link to just any sites out there. You want to choose sites that are related in some way to your business or service and are sites that are also highly ranked on Google.

The number of pages your site has is also another important part of getting a good Google ranking. There is no known number that can specifically attract spiders, but generally speaking, the more pages you have, the more likely you are to be noticed. So start with twenty or so and add to them as you can.

It is also a good idea to submit your site to directories such as Yahoo, Open and Project. Google tends to favor websites that are listed in those directories. Make sure you have important keywords included in the title and in the description. It's generally considered best to submit your home page.

And surely, never forget to pay attention to content rules, so that you will better your chances of ranking high with Google, and you will also motivate visitors to return to your site. You want your website content to be informative and keyword enriched.

Using keywords is another effective way to be noticed by spiders. keywords should always be included in the title and in the first sentence. After that's accomplished, it would also be helpful to plug the main keyword into the text.

Don't exaggerate with keywords, however. Google might end up penalizing you for this. Plus, keyword stuffed content often doesn't make good reading for your visitors and can turn them off completely. Both spiders and readers should find your content interesting and friendly.

If you are hoping to optimize your site, learning all there is to learn about properly using keywords should be your first step. If you're not a writer or the keyword density rules give you a headache, you can hire a freelance writer to do the writing for you.

Elance, Freelancer and vWorker are good sites to find writers who routinely do keyword article writing and for good rates. The benefit of leaving the writing to someone else is that you will have more time to run your site efficiently.
