Find The Right Moving Boxes Or Workers

By Adriana Noton

Most people think of moving as one of the most stressful things they can do. When plans to move are organized well and executed smoothly. The first thing to do is make a list of the steps and following that list as closely as possible. Check off each task as it is done. Make a list of the supplies and tools you need to do what you need to do, like strong tape, moving boxes and cushioning of some kind. The cushioning will be used for anything that seems like it could be broken, cracked or scratched in the move.

Cushioning can be bubble wrap or just the extra sheets, blankets and quilts you will want to take with you anyway. A good tip is to pack a room at a time and give children the task of making sure everything they want to take with them is specially packed away and marked as important to them.

Many people today are using plastic totes to move their items more safely. These often come in different colors and sizes. They are typically used to store items for long periods of time. Black markers and stickers are effective for keeping track of what tote or box carries what.

The kitchen is the room that usually has the most breakable items in the house. Plates, cups and glass pots must be wrapped in something so that they will not break. It is a good idea to put the word "fragile" on the side of the plastic totes or boxes you are using for breakable items. Some items that are breakable are large and should not be put in boxes unless they must be. This would include such items as large lamps with soft shades. Shades can be smashed flat and lamps can be cracked or broken.

Hand carts and dollies can be used to transport very large items, such as washers and dryers. Large gun and china cabinets that must be moved often have etched windows and glass in the front that must be kept safe in the transportation. Two people should move items that are too heavy.

Boxes should be chosen for their ease of use, strength and durability. Boxes with handles cut in the sides are very convenient but must also be very strong, as well. Try to find appropriately sized containers. Do not over-pack so that items are toppling out of the top or breaking through the bottom. Try to avoid packing containers full of books. Books should be packed so that they are not too heavy to carry. Always think logically before packing your items.

If you choose to go with a professional moving company, check into their reputation and the level of experience in the workers. Their services should always come with a guarantee so that you know your items are safe. If you can get references to let you know how they are on the job, that is a good thing to check into.

Try to organize your move so that the process moves smoothly. Obtain all the appropriate tools and materials, like tape and moving boxes. Do some research into the company that you chose, if this is the route you decide to take.
