Waste Of Money - Used Netbook Review

By Sophia Peterson

That will always be a mystery to me. It seems to me as if Microsoft is always looking for a way to take as much of my money as possible--just the updates to a "regular" Microsoft OS will cost as much as the netbook itself. It comes with only ONE speaker, located at the bottom, and sound volume is OK for home use but not for crowded places like classrooms and airport. Like most other netbooks, it comes with ONE RAM slot.

I wanted to buy the brown netbook but the orange was a lot cheaper. A few days later, the prices switched and they keep switching. I saw this little netbook decided to order it and check it out. I don't plan to install some complicated games or watch full length movies (I have a TV at home and I find watching video on small screens painful) so I cannot comment on the performance of the video card.

I am extremely happy with my purchase, and you just can't beat the value for the money anywhere. I highly recommend this netbook!

It is really a neat little machine, and will replace my full-sized Toshiba laptop I have had for some time, due to its small size and elegant efficiency. Windows 7 Starter takes a little getting used to, but then I am an old died-in-the-wool XP fan.

Battery life is also great. Great job Toshiba, I am very happy. It really gets the job done, and it offers super comfortable use despite its small size. My husband just got one as well since I love mine so much! My only reason for a non 5 star review is that I had to buy a USB wireless card because Ubuntu would not find and install my built in Realtek 8188 wireless card. I did find out that when I bought it, it was one of the newest netbooks on the market.

It's a neat, small, well-built netbook that should satisfy basic needs like web browsing and emails. The NB505 is a nicely constructed netbook. I watched CNET videos, I really don't see a problem with the device, and it works fine as a basic computer. You can do some basic design work, not a lot. I just wish Toshiba would sell versions with 1GB or 2GB of memory. After upgrading the memory (see below) I now have an unused 1GB module. As long as you know you're buying a netbook and what a netbook can and can't do this might be the product for you, here is my story. After much success in buying Toshiba products, I was very disappointed in the short life I experienced with this product. This is where the energy saving Atom processor shows how energy saving it really is! The laptop's keyboard is full size and the rear "rubber feet" are raised, which makes typing very comfortable.

Overall it's just a nice functional little computer, perfect for word processing, taking notes in class, and surfing the internet. I wouldn't want to use it for any sort of heavy duty graphics processing but I love the fact that the battery lasts at least 8 hours, on pretty average settings too not even the extreme power saving mode.
